Who’s in control: You or Nicotine: Make 2025 the Year to Quit Smoking

I am talking to you smokers out there who are fed up with the control that nicotine has over you. If you are okay with your smoking habit then you don’t need to read any further. If you are fully prepared to take the risk, don’t read the rest of this article.

    The Health Risks of Smoking

If smoking were discovered today for the first time, it would be immediately classified as a Class A drug. Why? Because it is highly addictive and the side effects of smoking will kill you, in one of many different ways.

If you smoke, you are far more likely to develop cancer. We have all heard of lung cancer – but cigarette smoke also causes cancer in the mouth, throat, bladder, cervix … the list goes on. It can cause strokes and heart disease.

And here’s a warning for all men who want to maintain a good sex life … because of the problems cigarettes does to your circulation, smoking can lead to your erections not being as hard – and ultimately to erectile dysfunction.

    What About Vapes?

The scientific evidence shows that vaping is less harmful than smoking at least in the short to medium term. No one knows what the long term effects of vaping are because they have not been around for that long. Vapes have been around for about 20 years and we have no understanding of the risks to health if you vape for longer than that.

    Quitting Smoking

Around 10% of the adult population in the UK still smokes, although hundreds are quitting every day. Smokers are all different. Some can just give up, others struggle to quit, and there are some who find it almost impossible. Everyone’s brain is wired differently and so everyone will experience quitting smoking in a different way. Willpower is needed, but for some – something extra is needed.

There are plenty of nicotine replacement products out there. Vapes are the current trend, but there are also nicotine patches, gum and pouches that sit behind your lip. You can quit the harmful cigarette smoke, but you are just switching one addiction for another.

    Hypnotherapy for Quitting Smoking

Hypnotherapy can be a very effective way to quit smoking. Most hypnotherapist will take you in for one session, and you walk out as a non-smoker. Of course, there are no guarantees, and willpower is still needed.

Some time ago, I received a phone call. The voice on the other end of the line said to me, “I don’t know if you remember me. You gave me hypnotherapy to quit smoking last year and since then I had not even thought about having a cigarette. Three weeks ago, I got a bit drunk at a party and someone offered me a cigarette. I took it and the next day I was back on twenty a day. Can you do me again please?”

Ever since that call, I decided to offer a follow up session to anyone who wants my hypnotherapy services to help them quit. A week or so after they quit, I see them again to drive everything home to reduce the chance of them picking up the habit again.

    And Finally …

If you want to Quit Smoking (or vaping) you might want to consider my quit smoking hypnotherapy package, which you can find out about Here, or simply Contact Me – but only when you really want to quit.

  • Why Do So Many People Quit Smoking In January?

Why Do So Many People Quit Smoking In January?

Each year in January, I receive a flurry of calls from people who want to give up smoking. So why in January rather than any other time of the year? I suppose it is because people associate the New Year with a time to start afresh, and to move on. My clients tell me that they have put the last year behind them and it is time to start anew.

Maybe it is because people see more hope in the New Year – hope that this year will be better than the last. They decide that now is the time to get rid of that old smoking habit that has not served them well in the past.

There are some people who really struggle with quitting. They need some help and so come in search of an experienced hypnotherapist. There are others who seem to be able to just stop, without any effort whatsoever. My job as a hypnotherapist is to help the people who struggle to quit. I help them move towards that group of people who can just stop without any effort. They still need to put the effort in to resist, but it is a lot less of a struggle once they have had hypnotherapy.

I had a phone call last year. The voice said, “I don’t know if you remember me. You helped me quit smoking last year. I didn’t think about smoking all year, until I went to a party recently, got drunk and someone offered me a cigarette. The next day I was back smoking 20 a day. Can you help me again please.”

This experience has made me rethink my approach to helping people quit. I am now providing a follow-up session a week after the quit-smoking session – just to embed the messages and really focus on my client’s ability to recognise and refuse temptation in the years to come.

Around 90% of people in the UK over 16 do not smoke cigarettes. If you are struggling to join them, why not give hypnotherapy a go? I run my hypnotherapy clinic in Fleet, Hampshire as well as online.

  • Stoptober

    Stoptober

So Stoptober is here – are you ready to quit smoking?

Hypnotherapy is a great way to stop smoking:

    • It all happens in one session – and that’s it.
    • No need to spend money on patches or vaping afterwards.
    • You save hundreds of pounds in the first year alone.

    It’s a simple process:

    • Call me first, I’ll answer any questions you have, and then book you in.
    • Find a quiet, comfy place where you can relax at home.
    • We’ll have one Zoom call lasting a couple of hours – then no more smoking.

    Hypnotherapy works

    • Experts say that 90% to 95% of smoking addiction is psychological – not physical.
    • Hypnotherapy helps you reprogramme your brain.
    • Hypnotherapy works when you really want to stop, but somehow you can’t do it on your own.

    Just imagine:

    • What will you do with the money you save.
    • How your family will feel about you when you quit for good.
    • All the health problems that you will avoid by quitting now.

Here’s what a client sent me

I had the most surreal hypnotherapy with Tim, I was using this for the first time to quit smoking and since having our appointment I have not touched or thought about a cigarette in 28 days.

Only call me when you really want to stop.

    The small print:

    • Calling me to have a chat and ask questions is free and there is no obligation to take it further.
    • Cost is £200 (a fraction of what you will save) for a single quit-smoking session – which will be around 2 hours.
    • During the pandemic, all sessions are conducted over Zoom (or other online video system), as recommended by the National Council for Hypnotherapy.
    • I am sorry, but I cannot offer a guarantee that you will quit forever. Hypnotherapy will only help you if you are fully committed to quitting permanently.
    • I only take on people who really want to quit, so please don’t ask me to help your partner. If they really want to quit, they need to call me themselves.
