FAQs About Hypnotherapy
I am sceptical about hypnotherapy – does it really work?
Yes, it really works. You are not the only one to be sceptical, many of my clients are when they first come and see me. Check out some of the review comments for Tim Maude Hypnotherapy on “Google My Business”. If you are still sceptical – read what the NHS has to say about hypnotherapy. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/hypnotherapy/
What is it like to be hypnotised?
When you go into a hypnotic trance you are relaxed and comfortable. It is a bit like when you are in bed and half awake and half asleep – relaxed and sort of aware of what is going on and occasionally your mind wanders.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Hypnotherapy is perfectly safe. No hypnotherapist can make you do something you don’t want to. You can choose to come out of trance at any time.
Are there people who cannot be hypnotised?
Everyone can go into a hypnotic trance. Some people can go into a very deep trance and some go into a light trance. However, the depth of the trance does not matter. The therapy works however deep the trance is.
Will I have to tell you about past traumas?
I am not interested in your past traumas. They are in the past and should be left there where they belong. As a solution-focused hypnotherapist, I ask you to focus on what it is like being free from anxieties and concerns, rather than digging up the past.
What does “Solution Focused Hypnotherapy” mean?
Hypnotherapy has been around for many years. In the past it was thought that the solution to psychological problems was to dig around in the past to understand what caused the problem in the first place. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a more modern approach and tackles problems by focusing on what the client wants to achieve rather than what caused the problem.
Can you guarantee success?
Unfortunately not. No hypnotherapist can guarantee success, no more than a doctor can guarantee that their treatment will work. All I can say is that the vast majority of my clients go away more than happy that they have come to see me.
How many sessions and how long will it take?
I typically see clients once a week for between five and ten weeks. A few clients need more than ten sessions – and some need less. It is not possible to give an accurate estimate.
Does Hypnotherapy work online?
Hypnotherapy works equally well in person or online. To work online, I use Zoom or other video technology. My clients need to have somewhere comfortable to sit to talk to me, as well as a place to either lie down or lie back with their head supported.
FAQs About Me
Where is your clinic?
My clinic is on Alton Road, Fleet, Hampshire UK.
Do you work online?
I do work online, although most of my clients prefer to see me in person in my clinic. Some of my clients live too far away from me to see me in person, and for these I offer sessions over Zoom or some other video technology.
Do you work with teenagers?
I do work with teenagers. For safeguarding reasons, I ask that a parent or guardian is present for anyone under the age of 18.
What are your qualifications?
I am qualified as a hypnotherapist: Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma, and Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (Issued by the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training school). I am a qualified hypnotherapy supervisor. I am qualified NLP Master practitioner and Trainer (Pegasus NLP training), and New Code NLP practitioner (NLP Academy).
How long have you been doing this?
How long have you been doing this?
One of the earliest treatments I performed was for a phobia for wasps, which was around 2001. I have used hypnosis and NLP to help people since then, although my work as a professional hypnotherapist began in 2019.
What professional bodies are you a member of?
I am a member of the National Hypnotherapy Council (NCH), the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH), and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Are you insured?
I am fully insured with Holistic Insurance Services.
Are the sessions confidential?
Everything that we discuss in the clinic is confidential, unless you give me permission to discuss your case with someone else (such as your doctor). If there is a legal requirement for me to share information about your case (such as a court order), I will do so (although this has never happened in my career so far). The only other exception is if you tell me that you are going to do something such as harm yourself, or break the law.
